Built by Hand: Jeannine's Way
Jeannine Rogers grew up in Durham, North Carolina and has been in the jewelry industry since she was in high school. She started off as an apprentice for Catharine Callaway and expanded with time to now owning Spiral Studios on North Churton Street, Hillsborough. She sells her hand made silver work, fun Halloween themed trinkets, and local merchandise in her store. But has now grown the inventory to now include selling metaphysical luxuries in what she calls “the sacred little space” in the room behind her jewelry front.
When I started this project, I was looking for an individual who hand makes fun, personality filled jewelry because I wanted to learn and show the process to the public. I was pleased to find Jeannine who is one of the coolest and kindest individuals. She truly embraces herself and it shows through her spooky style and the number of bats and cats that fill Spiral Studios. She constantly welcomes friends to hang out in her workshop while the store is open, and I became one of them. I am so grateful for this experience and all the time spent talking to Jeannine about concerts, tattoos, and life.
